NLCI K-12 PROCESS BOARDS - 2015
Improving our process boards
What is a Process Board?
A process board is a bulletin board that clearly outlines what students did to develop their knowledge of a concept "big idea." It starts with a question( essential or open-ended) or learning goal so that the viewer can see the purpose of the project or lesson series. It shows student work in the sequence of steps taken to reach that goal or answer the question. It takes the viewer through a "mind-movie" of the students' experience over time.

Following Principals' Conference last October, Joe Rodia and his AP Lindsey Rauch, spent a PD day helping teachers update their PLB's to Gold Standard. This process board grew out of a challenge to have students create an invention that would solve a day to day problem. Since Joe's school mascot is the Lion, they presented in the "Lion's Cage" aka "Shark Tank." The teachers really appreciated the time to reflect and thoughtfully renew their planning and have become tied to continued improvement through this process. Kudos to Joe and Lindsey for providing teachers with the tools and the time to help them grow as educators.
