Animal & Plant Respiration
How are they related
Photosynthesis and cellular respiration are two processes that depend on each other. Each process makes what the other one needs.
Photosynthesis uses water and carbon dioxide, and it makes glucose and oxygen.
Cellular respiration uses glucose and oxygen, and it makes water and carbon dioxide.
Photosynthesis builds the sugars that cellular respiration breaks down. In breaking down the sugars, cellular respiration makes the smaller molecules that photosynthesis uses to build more sugars.

Equation of Photosynthesis
H2O + CO2 + energy = C6H12O6 + O2
C6H12O6 + O2 → CO2 + H2O + Energy - respiration
CO2 + H2O + Energy(light) → C6H12O6 + O2 - photosynthesis
- If you notice, they're reverse reactions.
