HBD Weekly Rundown

Big Changes Coming to HBD

Thank you all for your support

HorseBettingDirect has been providing our sheets to the public for just about a full year now. We were welcomed warmly into the industry and received fantastic feedback as we have evolved our sheets and site over this period. The reality is simple, there is a cost associated with producing the high quality sheets that we have become accustomed to here at HBD and it is time for us to move forward with our business model.

The site will be changing a bit, somethings will be moving around and a great deal will be updated with new exciting information and tools. The most noticeable change will be that our HBD sheets will no longer be completely free. We will begin selling them shortly after the Kentucky Derby on May 4th. Staying true to our beliefs we will be much lower than the industry standard for the products that we offer, and we will continue to have freebies on a daily basis. We are also working on hosting contests and other ways for our customers to participate in our site. Please stay tuned for more information and details in the weeks leading up to our changes.

Oxbow Leads the way into Arkansas Derby

This Saturday marks the last of the two big prep races for the Kentucky Derby. Oxbow coming off a strong second place finish in the Rebel Stakes should lead the betting on Saturday. However, according to HBD there are reasons to look elsewhere to find value. Oxbow is already sitting on 36 points and should easily make the top 20 starters on Derby day. Combine that with the fact that Oxbow is adding another furlong and has struggled to finish strong in his last four starts, indicators point elsewhere to find a winner and possibly some nice betting value. Another interesting horse in this field is War Academy, a Bob Baffert shipper who will be making his first run into the Derby Prep schedule, but does so as the early Morning Line 2/1 favorite. War Academy was bred for this type of distance and should have no problem running this far, but so many unknowns here, I would never count Baffert out of a Derby run, but 2/1 is simply insane. Always a brides maid, Den's Legacy may finally get his trip to the winners circle this weekend. Den's hasn't won a whole lot of races, and needs a strong finish to make the gate in Kentucky, but looks to have a nice pace setup with an inside rail here in Arkansas. Texas Bling will switch to Jockey Calvin Borel and also make get a nice shot coming off the pace here.

Rydilluc Moves off the Lawn to run in Blue Grass

One of my favorite angles is looking at a horse coming strong off the turf headed onto a synthetic course. Rydilluc does just that as he moves off a recent lawn win in the G-3 Palm Beach and has won three of his four lifetime starts on the grass. Plus this horse is just fun to watch get ready for a race. He looks more like a professional boxer entering the ring to rap music on his way from the paddock to the track, this horse just seems to have the swagger it takes to take on all comers, his 4/1 ML is interesting and could provide a nice payday. Uncaptured the morning line favorite at 7/2 has also shown some success on the synthetic turf winning three of four at Woodbine as a two year old. Finally one of my favorite horses entering into Kentucky Derby season Dynamic Sky needs a strong finish here to make the derby field.
