District 109 Community Update

April 30th, 2021

Celebrating Arbor Day!

The Village of Deerfield donated a tree to DPS 109 today, and it was planted during a ceremony outside Kipling. Mayor Harriet Rosenthal, in one of her last acts in office, was in attendance. Several Kipling students were chosen to show off art & read poetry inspired by trees. Click on the picture if you want to see a gallery of photos. The link to the video may not work on school devices. You can find it on our DPS 109 Facebook page.

Shepard's Green Club partnered with the Deerfield Park District to do a fundraiser to raise money to purchase a Pear Tree to plant on Arbor Day! The students created a grade-level competition and voted on potential names. We now have Gerald the Pear Tree officially planted! We couldn't have asked for better weather for planting. Happy Arbor Day!"
