Point View School
NEWSLETTER - Week 5, Term 4 - 19 November 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
As I write, just under 300 students are back at school with the rest of our community choosing to keep their children at home. We are moving into a different way of managing this pandemic and I hope that by the start of next year all families will feel able to send their children to school with confidence.
In the meantime, I thank our teachers for providing distance learning support and on-site learning opportunities side by side. I am very impressed by the innovative ways in which they are coping with this challenging situation.
A reminder about devices on loan for those students back at school. They must now be brought in and returned to the classroom teacher.
Prizegiving and Graduation are important “rites of passage” for our Senior Students. Under the current restrictions, these events will look quite different, but we are planning, and we will let you know once we have put arrangements in place so everyone is included as far as possible.
Reporting to parents is also going to have a different look to it this year. It has been almost impossible to assess the progress of most students whilst they have been confined at home. We plan to offer on-line, parent teacher interviews around 9th December to discuss how they have weathered ‘lock down’ and what kind of support they will need most when they resume learning at school. Look out for further details and be sure to book in.

Class Placement 2022
Parent concerns re class placement of children for 2022
We will soon be preparing class lists for 2022. This is a complex process and teachers put a great deal of thought into each child’s placement.
We do not take requests for specific teachers for the following year. However, if you have particular concerns about the placement of your child, write down the needs of your child that you believe should be considered when we are doing placements and email these to the Deputy Principal leading your child’s current syndicate and “cc” to Robin Kirkham.
Any emails must be received by 4.00pm Thursday 25 November. They will be tabled as we work on placements. Late correspondence on this matter cannot be considered due to the impact of making changes on the carefully thought out combinations of students.
