WILD THINGS!

Mount Pleasant Middle School (MPMS) students and staff recently had the opportunity to interact with a menagerie of animals! While grade six science teachers were receiving professional development, K-6 Science Supervisor Dr. Dorian Gemellaro and Principal Bronawyn O'Leary arranged for all science classes to meet in the MPMS media center for two days of hands-on wildlife presentations from the NJ Snakeman and his staff. On the first day, rescued, injured, and trained birds came to visit. The presenter succeeded in her goal of changing perceptions on these majestic creatures. Day two saw students and staff handle snakes and assorted reptiles, while learning about their adaptations to the environment. Students learned about native/invasive species, and the role humans play in introducing non-native organisms into the environment - with often negative consequences. “So much learning took place, and the event was popular with students and staff alike!” said Gemellaro.

SAVE THE DATE! Heritage Middle School will present its spring musical, “The Addams Family, Jr. Edition," on May 12,13 and 14 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the door.

The musical revisits the classic television series with a few modern twists; Wednesday is all grown up and finds herself in love and hoping to marry Lucas, a young man who is quite the opposite of her “colorful” family. Come out to support the talented cast!
