News from Strausser Elementary
On November 11, we welcomed veterans and those currently serving in our military to our school. We are so thankful for the sacrifice, courage, and service of these men and women. It was our privilege to honor them and to help our students understand the importance of Veterans Day. Strausser Elementary is proud to be a Purple Star school. The Purple Star Award recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. RiverTree Backpack Food Program
We are pleased to be able to offer The Backpack Food Program, in partnership with RiverTree Jackson. This is a service for families in the Jackson Local School district with students in K-12. The goal of this program is to send home a variety of easy, ready-to-eat meals and snacks for your child to have over the weekend. There is absolutely no cost to our families to join this program. The bags will be delivered to your child’s school weekly and sent home with students on the last day of the week that students are in school, usually Fridays.
Our first distribution will take place on Friday, September 10. You may choose to participate at any time, but registration is needed by the Thursday of the week before, so for the first week, the deadline was Thursday, September 2.
This program is intended for families whose children are eligible for free/reduced meals. However, we understand some families may not be eligible for the free/reduced meal program but are still in need of food.
