Dear Parents,
We had very engaging discussions about our individuality as well as studying human diversity and shared characteristics. We understand that each of us is unique in our own way.
This week, we read the following books: I Love Me, Jalapeno Bagels and It's Okay to be Different. We made with play-doh some Jalapeno bagels, chango bars and pumpkin turnovers (Empanadas). Delicious!
Students are enjoying the 'All About Me' unit though the 'Me in a Bag' activity and our family pictures which will be put in our classroom family tree. Students also worked on creating a small replica of themselves in our art center. They are starting to gain familiarity with their friend's names and we are using this to introduce them to letters and letter sounds.
We have kept on working on rules and routines as they are the foundations to profound school learning. Together with the other P.K. classrooms we talked about safety in the playground and how to have fun while still taking care of each other.

Show and Tell "Me in a Bag"
EXTENSION: After show and tell, most kids wanted to play with the items they brought in. We had a "display table" on show and tell day where the children placed their items.

It's Okay to Be Different
The "All ABout Me" theme helps children to realize that every person is unique and special; every child's thoughts and ideas are important and no one person is more or less important than another!
