Happy April!
Welcome to April and the final two months of the school year! Thank you to each of you for all your assistance during the first round of STAAR testing. Our students were well prepared because of the work each of you, from pre-k to fifth grade and all the steps in between, pours into them daily.
With April come showers, wonderful learning opportunities, extended PLCs, National Walking Day, pre-k and kinder round-up, Rachel's Challenge, Earth Week, the annual BES sock hop, and a weather make-up day that went unused! A busy, fun month for all!
Looking forward to a great month of April as we continue to build an excellent school together!
Celebrations!
Thank you Tonya for an awesome STAAR week! Thanks to everyone who helped to make it successful! :-)
Congratulations to Jeanette, Corrie and Wendy! Their classrooms had the most attendance on our Spirit Night at Spring Creek. They will all be receiving Spring Creek t-shirts and a goody bag from Spring Creek. A huge thank you to all of our servers and diners!
Amazing 3rd grade persuasive writing this week! They invited Greg Sims to be their authentic audience to make changes to recycling at BES!
- Congratulations to Raschel on the birth of her grandson!
- Thank you Sue and Rebecca for planning national walking day to share with our students and families the importance of heart health!
To do...
- Lunch $: Make sure you have money to pay for the delicious food Dee prepares for us. Adults do not have the privilege of charging like our students.
- Pictures: Send Brittany pictures to spotlight on the campus website
Take two...
Check here each week for two strategies and/or ideas to implement in your work with our Texans. Please share great ideas you use or have found so we can post them here for others to use.

Back to School Fair
This message is sent on behalf of Emberly Hill, GCISD Director of Counseling:
Good Afternoon GCISD Friends! We are excited to announce that GCISD is once again partnering with the community to serve our economically disadvantaged students. The sixth-annual Back to School Fair is scheduled for Saturday, August 5, from 9 a.m.-Noon at Grapevine High School. This is a collaborative event sponsored by GCISD, CONNECT and the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation, and the Women's Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. Last year, with support of our staff and community, these organizations provided free backpacks, school supplies and other back-to-school needs to approximately 1,200 GCISD students.
We are in desperate need of volunteers! We need both English and Spanish speaking volunteers - the more, the better. This is a very rewarding experience and you will be happy you were part of it - guaranteed! We need assistance with checking families in, escorting families, and assisting nutrition and transportation with bilingual communication.
If you are interested in volunteering, please use this link to sign up: BTSF Volunteer Sign Up or if you would like more information, please contact Emberly Hill at emberly.hill@gcisd.net.
Thank you for all you do every day to support all our students in GCISD! Have a great day!

2017-2018 Information
Be on the lookout for an invitation from Jamie and/or Tonya after spring break to meet and discuss your desires for next school year.
Transfer Information
Spring includes many activities in our district and the Human Resources department begins working with employees on transfer requests. Policy DK (local) states that an employee may request reassignment within the District to another position for which he or she is qualified. If an employee is interested in requesting a voluntary transfer to another campus, they should complete the Internal –Transfer and Reassignment Request job posting. This job posting will be available beginning March 3, 2017.
Employees seeking to transfer to another campus are urged to fill out the transfer request application in a timely manner. The final day that transfers will be approved is June 2, 2017.
** Transfers do not apply to individuals who are seeking a new position. Employees wanting to move from a teaching position to an administrative position, for example, must fill out an application for the new position. A transfer is a move from campus to campus in a similar position.
Directions for employees seeking a transfer within the district:
- Apply online on the Human Resources Homepage
- Select Careers for Internal Employees
- Once logged in, select the Internal – Transfer and Reassignment Request job posting to apply
Once an employee has applied in the transfer pool, principals will have the opportunity to review this pool as they seek qualified candidates to fill vacant positions. Please express your desire to seek a transfer to your current principal in order to facilitate the process.
