Growing Leaders! November 1, 2020
What's Happening in the Furr Fold!
Good Afternoon Furr Families!
WHERE DID OCTOBER GO??? The days and months are flying by and that's exactly what the month of OCTOBER did!
GOODBYE OCTOBER,
HELLO NOVEMBER.
New month. New beginnings.
New start. New intentions & new results.
PASS IT ON!
November starts the week off. We changed our clocks back one hour and hopefully, everyone slept that extra hour gained. I can't let last week slip by without giving our PTO a HUGE THANK YOU for putting together the "DRIVE BOO!" These events are a big undertaking and we love their support. THANK YOU PARENTS & TEACHERS of this organization. Also, it was wonderful to see ALL of our students and families participate in the Drive-Boo! The costumes, the smiles and the voices of our families.......Thank you Parents for participating!
It was another amazing week of learning and growth for our students. They have settled into the school year and it's impressive to watch them learn with such enthusiasm. It takes all of us to create such an atmosphere and mindset.
BAD WEATHER: This is a reminder that if there is a possibility of bad weather that could result in the delay of the start of school or closing school, we will use CONNECT ED to notify you. You will receive an e-mail, phone call, and text message notifying you of the delay or closing. In addition, the information will be posted on all PISD social media outlets. Moreover, the local television stations will receive notice as well. Therefore, there is no need to call your child’s campus to see if we are having school. If you do not receive any notification, we will be having school and starting at the regularly scheduled time. For this reason, it is important to make sure that your school has the most up-to-date and accurate contact information.
LABELING ALL ITEMS: Parents, if possible, please label all items that are sent to school with your child's last name on it. I would rather return an item, back to our students, than for any item never to be reclaimed again. Your help with this would be appreciated.
TARDIES: We have had many students late to school...and late to class, since our weather has started to cool down. When a student is late, they miss out on their class morning meetings! The first part of the day is crucial to the social-emotional well-being of all our students! The day is specifically designed around this and when our students are late, they are missing this vital lesson. Please make sure you are getting your student to school on time! Thank you.
YEARBOOKS: It is yearbook time of year! Time to order that is. You will want to capture all of the uniqueness of this school year by purchasing a yearbook. Now through November 13th, buy for the lowest price of the year, just $30.00.
MORNING ARRIVAL: DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILD: We have 2 areas designed for dropping off your student safely, the front (A-L) car line and the back (M-Z) car line. Please DO NOT drop your child off at the bike racks. This is not a drop off zone. Thank you for your help in this area.
SAVE THE CHILDREN! SAVE THE FAMILY!
Have you ever looked up the definition of "FAMILY"? As everything, the definition continues to evolve. No matter the definition, I wanted to point out that ALL of our students go home to a family...All families are similar, yet different. The family unit is what supports our kids. The family unit is what supports our parents. The family unit is a peculiar thing... IT IS THE FOUNDATION of our Community and our Society. Our kids need family; all kids deserve a family. Parents, I wanted to thank you for supporting our kids through family. Your support for these young leaders, these young minds is extremely important! Thank you for sharing your student(s) with Furr Elementary. Especially in these unpredictable times, it takes all of us! Thank you for being a part of the Furr Fold...The Furr Family!

Education, the foundation on which all lives are built. Thank you for entrusting us with your children. The collaboration between teachers, families and students is what builds the solid foundation for our student's educational success. I wanted to thank you parents for your patience and grace. Please know that we are in this together as we educate our kids! Thank you for entrusting us with your children so that we can make the world a better place. It starts with us...Be Kind!

FACE COVERINGS
@FURRELEMENTARY
Face coverings are required for all adults, 4th graders and 5th graders at Furr Elementary. We highly encourage ALL students, Pre-K to 5th grade, to wear a mask. All masks, brought from home, need to follow the PISD dress code requirements. Parents, please pack a mask in your child's backpack where it is readily accessible in case your child needs one. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Here at Furr Elementary, we will continue to follow and implement all guidelines set forth by our governor, local authorities and our district. We continue to enforce face coverings, washing hands, using hand sanitizer and social distancing on a continual basis. Please check our district website, Covid Dashboard, for any and all updates from our district.

EVERYDAY.....HEALTH SCREENER as a GUIDE to Send Your Student to School
Every morning before you send your child to school, please look over the Health Screener to make your decision of whether or not my child should come to school today. WE thank you for taking the time to answer these questions on a daily basis and...keeping our school community safe!
