September 2023
Hello September!
It is my hope you have enjoyed the Labor Day holiday and that your Bondy Patriot is becoming acclimated to Secondary (Intermediate/High) student life. It is fast-paced and can sometimes be an adjustment for students and parents alike. However, it is designed to ensure your child is able to navigate a demanding high school/college/career and beyond way of life. Remember, your child has only two years before heading to high school. We strive to fully prepare them to be on a campus of nearly 3,000 students! We encourage you to stop by and see Bondy at work! Know that we have an open door policy, so bring your ID, come see the system at work, and be a part of the magic that happens each and every day.
In the upcoming weeks, you will be receiving more information about Volunteer Opportunities where your presence on campus will be needed. CLICK HERE to become a Bondy Parent Volunteer: BecomeABondyVolunteer23-24. Many parents have expressed their desire to support the campus in the area of programs similar to WatchDogs or Dads on Duty and we are excited to welcome you in these efforts. More information to come very soon!
We are also excited to share that we are hiring a full-time Campus Safety Monitor. The application is currently posted on the PISD Website so please review the qualifications if you, or someone is interested in the position. In addition to the presence of Pasadena ISD PD, Pasadena PD, and Pearland PD Police Officers, on campus, we conduct regular door safety checks, hold safety drills, and maintain a keen awareness to student situations. Our attention will always be focused on the safety of our campus. We are thankful to our district for providing this position for our campus as another added measure to ensure the safety of our campus.
SAFETY DRILLS - SEPTEMBER 8TH
With that in mind, your student should have delivered a letter home last week detailing our Safety Drill plans for September 8th. On this date, the campus will be closed to visitors until Noon as we conduct campus safety drills. Twice a year, Bondy holds campus safety drills for Lockdown, ALICE, Shelter, Hazard, Fire and more. It is important for all students to be present on this date in the morning for the drills. If you have a concern to share or have questions regarding our drills, please email our campus safety coordinator and Assistant Principal, Amy Haddican at AHaddican@pasadenaisd.org.
During the drills, you will receive REMIND messages indicating the drill we are conducting. Please be sure your email and mobile phone number is correct in SKYWARD. You will also receive notification when we start the drill and when we end the drill. If on that date, you fail to receive the messages, please contact Karina Lopez, our attendance clerk at KLopez3@pasadenaisd.org to correct the matter. In the event of an actual emergency, notifications would go out via phone, via REMIND, and on our social media. Since these are only DRILLS, we will only utilize REMIND. Do not be alarmed with the volume of messages you will receive as it is only our intent to ensure you are fully aware of the drills occurring on campus and of maintaining clear communication with you.
Take a moment to review the September Patriot Press. Tutorials are in full swing, the Band will march in the Pasadena Rodeo parade, Volleyball is in full swing, club meetings are happening, The Lee Bowl (Football) is September 11/12 (in case you did not know, my husband is the Principal of Queens Intermediate and we have a "friendly" competition each year), school pictures are this month, open house, and our first PEP Rally is 9/12.That's just a fraction of the excitement brewing on campus! Thank you for your continued support!

BONDY TRAFFIC CONCERNS & BUS TRANSPORTATION
Therefore Patriots, we have to make the best of it and I am confident we can do that. Please be sure to drop your student off early in the mornings. 7:30am - 7:45am is the best time as the heavy traffic has yet to commence. All students must be picked up by 4:00pm. For this reason, you may elect to pick up your student in the front turnaround or you may meet them in the Guitar Center/JC Penney parking lot after school. If you decide to use the front turn around (front of campus) please exercise PATIENCE. Do not change lanes as students and staff members are walking by vehicles. Just hang tight in the lane you entered and you will be on your way. We want to ensure no one is injured and that no vehicle accidents occur in the double lines for drop off and pickup.
Please help us continue to ensure student safety by not dropping off or picking up on Mickey Gilley Blvd.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation!
Mrs. Lee
