*We read a beautiful story by Jan Brett called "The Mitten." After listening to the story we got to act it out. Everyone had great fun pretending they were an forest animal and crawling into a giant paper mitten. The children moved their bodies just as their animal would.
*During math time, we learned a game called "Monster Squeeze" Each child brought a mini version of the game home to play with an adult. It's good fun and can be made more challenging by using bigger numbers!
*We pulled out some good old fashioned dominoes and did some practice with one-to-one correspondence and sequencing.
*This week we concluded our baby study with two lessons. We read the book "Knuffle Bunny" and then created our own "lost" bunnies who can be found spinning around in the washing machine! We also watched a short video of a baby learning to walk and had a discussion about how we learn. Our guiding questions: "Does all learning take place in school?" "Does learning always involve being taught?"
* We are celebrating the glory of winter. Using tape, water colors and salt, the children made serene winter tree scenes.

*Think about how babies learn. Is making mistakes an important part of learning something new?
*What part did you have in the class play of "The Mitten?"
*What made you smile today?
