Wiley vs. Plastic
Wiley International Studies Magnet Elementary
IT ALL STARTED WITH OUR WILEY VS. PLASTIC ELECTIVE
Have you heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? Do you know how plastic is made and how it is recycled? How much plastic do we use each day? Join Frau Karrass to find out what you can do to consume plastic responsibly and help protect our environment. In this elective, students learn about the life cycle of plastic, the abundant presence of plastic in our lives, and think about strategies to reduce our plastic consumption by exploring accessible alternatives. This elective aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 12 - Ensure Responsible Consumption and Production Patterns and 14 - Life Below Water.
LOOK AT THE NUMBERS!
This is how many bags we use when serving breakfast at Wiley. Our Wiley vs. Plastic elective has decided to lead the way! As Wiley Change Makers, they have invited the entire school to help with a service learning project on December 13th.
Wiley Takes Action!
Click here to see what students learned! On Friday, December 13th, the entire Wiley community will participate in a service learning project to replace plastic bags during our breakfast service. Students will be making T-shirt bags.
