Read Your way to a Big Game, Sept. 19 - Oct. 19
Rhame Elementary School will participate in the S.C. Education Oversight Committee’s “The Big Game 2016 Reading Contest.” Students are challenged to read six reading-level appropriate books to qualify for a chance at the grand prize: 4 tickets to the USC vs Clemson game, sideline passes and pre-game activities! There will be a winner for USC and a winner for Clemson.
The contest is STATE WIDE. Students can enter more than once, as long as they read more books! The reading log can be printed from the link http://bit.ly/2cOp0rU , or you can pick up a copy from the library. The contest will run September 19 – October 19!
Read for the Record, October 27, 2016
Please join the "Read for the Record" Early Literacy promotion, sponsored by Jumpstart, a national early education organization, on October 27, 2016 and read The Bear Ate Your Sandwich, a classic tale of a bear’s epic journey and the mystery surrounding one delicious sandwich!
"..On Thursday, October 27, 2016, children and adults will gather to learn, laugh, and read this year's campaign book, The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach, as part of the world’s largest shared reading experience.“

2016-2017 Visual Literacy Festival
Please encourage your students to enter their creation of multimedia projects for the contest of VFL Festival. The contest and celebration of the VLF for the creative excellence helps students to create, interpret and appreciate images and videos in alternative ways that advance their thinking, decision making, communication, and learning. Get ConnectEd Library Card
Richland County Public Library is collaborating with Richland School District One as part of the White House’s ConnectED Library Challenge. Each of the Rhame students will receive their own Richland County Library card soon. The student card does not accrue overdue fines. Students can activate their cards in person at any branch, or online http://www.richlandlibrary.com/connected. Cards will be distributed in teacher boxes next week.
Fireflies Reading Program
You are invited to enroll your class for a free reading incentive program offered by Columbia Fireflies Baseball Community Park. Encourage your students to reach their reading goals to be eligible for a free complimentary ticket to attend the Columbia Fireflies Baseball game and a free ticket to EdVenture Children's Museum. Renaissance Learning Reading Incentive Program
Bool It Reading Program
Every class should have received a package of the Pizza Hut free reading incentive program in the mail box. Have fun for your students to read their heart out and earn a Reading Award Certificate for a free, one-topping personal Pan Pizza every month. Students can enter for a chance to win 100-book library near the end of program in May each school year.
