INVESTITURE MASS
On Thursday, 9 February, we celebrated Mass at St Mary, Star of the Sea. During Mass our student leaders were given a special blessing from Father Richard and received their leadership badges. It was a wonderful celebration which was made all the more special as we were able to join together with members of the wider community in our church.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
Congratulations to Year 12 student, Alice Sparks, who competed in the Gisborne Surf Lifesaving Championships. Alice and her team took out the title for under 17 tube rescue. You can read all about Alice's achievements here.
Year 12 student, Flynn McGregor, who took out the top spot in the first round of the under 18 boys division in the Gisborne Boardriders Club Junior Series. See the full story here.
KAT VANDERBILT - MISSIONARY IN TRAINING
We ask you to keep Kat in your prayers as she undertakes her missionary training and outreach. Kat's family have set up a Give A Little page for anyone who may feel moved to donate (https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/kats-ywam-orlando-dts-mission-trip). It also includes a link to her Blog (https://katvanderbilt6.wixsite.com/katsupdates) where people can subscribe to follow along as she goes through the program. As a token of her appreciation, Kat has created a piece of art that will be sent out to donors.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
Our school photos will be taken this Thursday. To ensure discount prices, you must return the completed order form with payment to the School Office before 12 noon on Tuesday, 14 February 2023. Orders made after the discount cut-off date will be at standard order prices. All students should have received an order form. Spares can be obtained from the Office.
ANZAC SPEECH COMPETITION
The Gisborne RSA, is this year holding a speech contest for this year’s ANZAC Day Service on Tuesday 25 April 2023. They are inviting the youth of the Gisborne – Tairawhiti District between the ages of 12 and 15 years to enter this contest. The speech is to be no longer than 3 minutes long and to be about the subject matter CHUNUK BAIR and the ANZACS. Please see Mrs Sadler if you have any questions.
STATIONERY REQUIREMENTS
Stationery requirements for Years 7 - 10
- A Chromebook or Laptop
- A calculator - fx82AU PLUSII (or better) - available via Kindo
- 3 x 1B5 exercise books
- 2 x 1E5 exercise books
- Pens and pencils
- A ruler
For senior students, a Chromebook or Laptop is also required. Pens, pencils and either a 1B5 or refill paper is also useful.
CHROMEBOOKS
Campion College is proud to partner with the Manaiakalani Outreach programme in helping improve learning through digital fluency. One of the benefits of this is that Manaiakalani sources an appropriate chrome book for students to purchase. For 2023, Manaiakalani is recommending that students purchase the Acer C734-C1SD Chromebook.
Please note that if you do not wish to purchase the Acer C733, then any chrome book or similar laptop will work as a suitable device for student use in the College. If you have any queries please contact your child’s learning mentor or the College Office.

You can add yourself into a membership group that will give some discounts following the instructions below:

1. Go to pbtech.co.nz then click 'Create account' or 'Sign-in'
2. If you are creating a new account, update your details then type BYOD123 where it says 'Membership Key' then click 'Register'
3. If you are signing in to your existing PB account, head to My Account > Settings > Personal Details then type BYOD123 where it says 'Membership Key' then click 'Update Details'
4. Start saving!

Our church is St Mary, Star of the Sea. We are fortunate to have our church onsite. Our parish Mass times are:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9 am
Friday 12.10 pm,
Saturday 9 am and Vigil Mass 6.00 pm
Sunday 9.00 am
Children’s liturgy at every Sunday 9.00 am
