Mrs. Drudy's Remote Learning
April 30, 2020
A Note to Parents
One more thing: When you e-mail photos, please send just one photo per e-mail. Don't ask me why, but our corporation's e-mail server is not delivering e-mails with more than one attachment, and it's been a HUGE headache. I am so sorry. Let me tell you, though, those Flat Mrs. Drudy pictures and the pictures of your kiddos doing real everyday learning are what's getting me through. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Day #9 Agenda
ReadWorks: Earth Day
Math: Three-Dimensional Shapes
Option 1: Play the card game Total of 10. Set out 20 cards face up on the table (with picture cards removed). The first player takes 2 or more cards off the table which have a total of 10. The aim of the game is to clear the table and be the player with the most cards at the end. Click here for more detailed instructions.
Also below you will find the download for the OPTIONAL daily math review.
Optional Math Fun: Grandfather Tang's Story
Let's have a little bit of fun! You are going to listen to Grandfather Tang's Story, where Little Soo asks for a story and Grandfather Tang arranges tangram pieces that spring into life as fox fairies, rabbits, squirrels, geese...you name it!
You can stop the story when asked to build the characters yourself. Find really cool tangram pieces online by clicking here. When you get there, you will need to click on the little gray square to get the tangram pieces. See the screenshot below. To turn the tangrams, simply grab a vertex, and this will allow you to rotate them.
Download a "cheat sheet" of the animals and an image of what the tangrams look like when fitted together to form a perfect square.
For an added challenge, when you are finished creating the characters from the story try to put the pieces back together into a perfect square on the screen.
This helps us address the math standard, "I can investigate and predict the result of composing and decomposing two- and three-dimensional shapes."

Related Arts Updates
"I wanted to give everyone an update as to what was going on with the art fundraiser we were in the middle of before we left school. Orders placed online and paper orders that were turned in will be delivered to my residence in May. I will hold on to these items until school resumes after the pandemic. If things calm down before that there is a possibility of having a time where you could meet me at the school during a certain time period and pick it up. Online orders will also stay with me until school resumes. If you have questions about your online order you can call them directly at 1-888-332-3294.
If you have questions, just ask!" cathy.bartos@uc.k12.in.us
From Mrs. Treadway: Mrs. Treadway has created a new Google remote learning site. You may access it here.
From Mrs. Migoski: Mrs. Migoski has a BrainPop, Jr. site exclusively for her music class, and even though the activities are optional, she would like a greater level of participation. For grades K-2 the login information is as follows:
username: first.last.uc
password: brainpop1
The video link below is a great tutorial that Mrs. McCashland has shared about logging in and accessing Mrs. Migoski's optional work.
