Art
Dear Town Creek Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you safe, well and making lots of art. Art is a wonderful way to express your feelings. For this week’s inspiration, just Google “Google arts and culture” and Google Arts and Culture will be the first site that pops up. Then you can take a virtual field trip with your entire family! Google Arts and Culture can connect you to museums and places around the world. You can take virtual tours of many museums and cultural sites. You can also explore even further with Google Projects.
I hope you’re saving your artwork, like I would be doing for you if we were at school. I also hope you’ll keep sending me pictures of your amazing artworks for feedback.
Remember, the SMCPS Elementary Art @ Home choice board with a lot of other fun art activities can be accessed through this link, https://sites.google.com/smcps.org/smcps-elementary-art-at-home/home . I miss you!
If you choose to submit a piece of art for me to see and comment on, you may send it to my email address which is dlsquier@smcps.org. If you send it through your student account, please cc: your parents so they can see my reply. Please include your first and last name with it so I know who made it.
My office hours for parents and students to reach me are 10am to 1230pm daily, Monday through Friday, at my school email address above.
Music
Dear Town Creek musicians and families,
I hope you are doing well and I miss all of you. I hope that you enjoyed some time together during the Memorial Day Weekend. Thank you to all who are serving now or who have served our country in the past. Here is a link to the United States Armed Forces Medley with lyrics 2010 National Memorial Day Concert Armed Forces Medley
This week’s optional music lesson is about melody. One idea is to share a favorite story book together and sing the story verses reading the story. The story of the Three Little Bears is a great story for our primary students to try. Here is a picture by Joshua in Ms. Galati’s class. He was inspired to create a melody after hearing birds chirping outside.
Many of our TCES students have been making instruments from materials they have found around the home and have created their own music compositions. Here is a photo of a drum set created by Logan T. in Ms. Causey’s class from pencils, tinfoil, plastic lid and
a box.

Many people enjoy going to the movies as summer approaches. One of my favorite movies to see while I was in elementary school was “Star Wars.” Here are two clips of the legendary John Williams conducting his own music he composed for the “Star Wars” movies . Star Wars Medley and Imperial March. Be safe and stay well.
Musically yours,
Mr. Nazimek
Media
Hello Media Students,
Since we are not returning to school for the remainder of this school year, we now have to communicate through newsletters, emails, and can even do so through Google Hangouts. If you’d like to talk or have questions, please reach out. Let me know if you’ve accessed any of the links that I have sent out, whether it be the Scholastic site or the lessons that we media teachers have created for optional learning. I really thought some of you may go into the 4th grade link and try to create a comic strip using Google Slides or maybe even make one by hand using pencil and paper. I would love to see what you create. Below, you will see many of the titles for the lessons but not all of them are listed. I really think you’ll enjoy the Scholastic site also. You have the option for the eBooks to read to you or you can read along with them. The activities with the books are quite fun. Stay safe and healthy. Take care and keep reading.
Sincerely,
Ms. Stearns
