The Panther Post
It's almost summer, but there is still so much to do!
Principal's Message
It is so hard to believe that this is the last monthly bulletin of the year. This year was quite a year. It was much harder on everyone than when we shut down and provided instruction online. That year was tough, but this year was tougher. I want to commend you, our staff, and most of all our students for being champions despite the COVID challenges. Everyone’s flexibility was incredible during this challenging year.
Despite the challenges we had many successes and accomplishments. We continued to hold parent meetings, conferences, and Back to School Night via Zoom or Google Meets. We were able to recognize our students at our Panther of the Trimester assemblies and the 4 Ps assembly. Students participated in DIY activities, Mariachi, Spring Band Concert, students were able to attend Grad Night, and students received a top notch education from our amazing teacher, just to name a few.
We are finishing up CAASPP testing this week. We also have many fun activities planned for all students. We will finish the year off with field days for both 6th and 7th grade students. Our 8th grade students will get treated with a pancake breakfast, dance and finally promotion.
We are excited about being able to provide the full promotion experience to our students and parents. Promotion will be on June 16th at 9:00 am. Students will wear gowns and tassels this year. Given the COVID cases are slightly on the rise, we will only issue two tickets per student. No strollers will be allowed. We thank you for your understanding. In order to help you plan your week, here is the last week of school schedule.
Warmly,
Ms. Perez
The tragic shooting that took place at Robb Elementary has devastated all educators and parents. Please know that we value that you entrust us with your children day in and day out. We have taken many proactive measures to ensure your child’s safety. As you can see in Dr. Walker’s Hueneme Channel, we have been working and will continue working on safety for all of our schools. Our students’ safety is everyone’s responsibility and we could not do it without your support. We want to thank you (parents and community members) for supporting us and reporting suspicious activity in the community. We want to encourage you to continue to report concerns and share videos…if you see something, say something.

California Healthy Kids Survey
Dear Blackstock Families and Community Members,
Each year, Hueneme Elementary School District 5th and 7th grade students take the California Healthy Kids Survey. This anonymous survey gives us important feedback regarding how our students feel about their schools. We use the information from this survey and other data to help prioritize our efforts each year in order to achieve our goal of making sure every student feels safe and welcome in our schools and classrooms.
Based on the preliminary results of this year’s survey, I am pleased to report that our students indicated that they feel their teachers have high expectations of them. Many have also shared that they have not used drugs or been under the influence at school.
While we are pleased with these findings, we are also always looking for ways to improve. Specifically, we would like to address. Some students indicated that they didn’t feel as connected to the school as they would like. They also indicated that they have a need to feel safer. We look forward to digging deeper into these issues and working with our students and community members to devise some possible solutions.
The school’s leadership team and School Site Council will go over all of our end-of-the year data and use it to help plan, budget, and prioritize for the 2022-23 school year. Thank you for all you do to support our school and help make it a happy and safe place for all students to learn and grow.
Sincerely,
Felicitas Perez, Principal
COVID reminder
Parents please COVID screen your children daily. We are noticing a lot of children coming to school when they are ill. If they are ill, please keep them home and notify the office.
