News and Information
Grandparent's Day Is Coming!!!
Grandparent's Day Friday, Nov. 8, 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Fall party -- Next Friday, Oct. 18th!
Our party will be Friday, Oct. 18 from 8:15-9:00. All parents are invited to attend :-)
If you volunteered to send something, you can send it that day, or any time next week! Thank you!
Parent Teacher Conferences
I sent home a green form to begin scheduling parent teacher conferences in your child's mailbox today. I am doing these on my own time, so I hope that you will be able to meet on one of the days I have set aside- Wednesday, Oct. 30 and Wednesday, Nov. 6. The form has further instructions about choosing a time.
Book It Program:
Today you will receive a Book It calendar. Please have your child read for 20 minutes each night. Color in each day they read for 20 minutes. Return the calendar to school after October 31st and your child will receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.
As warm coat season approaches, please be sure to label your child's coat and accessories with their name. We have many duplicate items already being worn in our class alone! It gets very tricky to get the right coat with the right child when they are no names inside. A Sharpie works great for this!
If you’d like to sit with your child at lunch we’d love to have you. Lunch begins at 11:50 a.m. If you wish to eat the school lunch, please call the office to order a tray.
Veteran's Day Info
We now have a Veterans Day link on our school website to help parents know what we need from them as well as what time and date the convocation are.You go to the Converse Elementary website, click on "Converse Calendar" and there you will see a link for "Veterans Day". The link includes a parent letter and a form to collect veteran information.
Homework
Your child's nightly homework: Read 20 minutes every night!
Your child will not have homework this year unless:
1. They are absent and make up work for the day will be sent home.
2. They are falling behind on Rocket Math facts, at which time I will send a letter to inform you there will be homework until they catch up and/ or meet the expected level.
Reading
We continue focusing on the sequence of a story or steps in a technical or scientific process. We are finding those transition words in the text to help us understand the story better. We continue to work on fluency, vocabulary, phonics and phonemic awareness each day.
Math
We finished up addition with 2 digit numbers. Today we started subtracting with 2 digit numbers. We will be using those same addition strategies to help us subtract.
Here are the links to the student book and practice and problem solving book.
