SES
Each year the District provides SES (free tutoring services) to students based on meeting NCLB requirements. These services typically have been provided by outside vendors and parents attend a faire to choose from different vendors.
However, this is a transition year, so the state has a transition plan which allows districts who were formerly recognized as Program Improvement year 2 to provide services. Our funding will allow for about 100 students in the district to receive a 6 week Intensive Intervention. It will be small groups of students (5-10), 4 hours a week with one of those hours being prep. The District is currently looking for teachers who are interested in this opportunity Teachers will be able to tutor from their room or site and we can provide materials
Time to Teach Goal
We have decided to create the goal based on the number of students who reach the office on the behavior flow chart. We will compare October from last year to October of this year. Last year, during the month of October, 96 students were sent to the office based on the behavior flow chart. A 20% decrease would make the goal for this October 76. On Monday Stephen will be meeting with each of the P.E. classes to inform the students about our Time to Teach Goal for the month of October. He will inform the students that if 76 students or fewer are sent to the office on the behavior flow chart, we will add 5 minutes to their break for a week. This will impact 3rd block for that week, but if it motivates the students then it will be well worth it. We will update the students each week as to their progress towards the goal. Our expectation is that the students will motivate one another to not be sent out and ruin their extended break time.
