Aiming to Keep You Informed
JANUARY 15, 2021
From the Office
On Tuesday, January 19th, we will begin our new In-Person Learning model for all students who selected In-Person Learning through our December survey or reached out to our Main Office in January. We look forward to having In-Person students attend each of their scheduled classes throughout our 9-period day.
If your child will be attending In-Person Learning starting next week, please pay special attention to the In-Person Learning sections below.
New In-Person Learning Model - Begins January 19, 2021
On Tuesday, January 19th, we will begin a new In-Person Learning Model at Westfield, allowing students to follow their current 9-period student schedule and physically change classroom locations each period on days that students attend In-Person Learning. The current Building Schedule will continue to be utilized for all students. Below, we are highlighting a few key aspects of In-Person Learning. For additional information please see our FAQ: Return to In-Person Learning or the District 13 Return to Learn resources page.
~Morning Arrival
All students attending In-Person learning must have a health pre-certification form completed by their parents through Raptor each day that they attend In-Person learning.
Walkers and Car riders, please arrive between 8:10 - 8:25am. Bus riders will arrive according to their bus route information. Students will proceed into the building upon arrival and head to their first period classes. We are asking students not to arrive prior to 8:10, if possible, to avoid groups gathering on the front walkway prior to entering the building.
Bus riders: Updated bus routes and stops were mailed home in the beginning of the year.
Vehicle Drop-off: As a reminder, the front lot is only available for bus traffic before and after school; Car drop off is along Fairfield Way. Please drop your child off on the Westfield side of Fairfield or encourage your child to use the crosswalks if needed. Crossing in the middle of the street is unsafe during drop-off and pick-up times.
~Student Entrances
Staff will greet students on the front patio in the morning and assist them with safely entering the building. Students will be asked to wear a mask as they approach the building, socially distance themselves from others, and enter the building one at a time. Upon entering, staff will confirm that a health pre-certification form was completed for each student by their parent/guardian. All student entrances are along the front side of the building.
- 6th Grade students will use Door 30, which leads into our Athletic Gym
- 7th Grade students will use Door 32, which leads to our Commons
- 8th Grade students will use Door 1, which is our Main Entrance.
~Daily procedures
- Social distancing, mask wearing, cleaning of surfaces, and frequent hand washing/sanitizing will be practiced by all students and staff.
Staggered passing times and hallway traffic patterns will be utilized between classes to maintain social distancing.
Lockers and Locker rooms will not be used. (students will not change for PE)
Students will be asked to hang coats and bags on their chair during class.
Students will need to carry their lunch, water bottle, Chromebooks, coats, and other supplies with them from class to class. What do students need for in-person learning?
Full Remote Learning - Starting January 19th
If your student will be part of the Full Remote group starting with the week of January 19th, they should continue to follow their current class schedule while attending remotely, unless otherwise notified by a staff member. The current Building Schedule will continue to be utilized for all students.
