A Note From the Principal
Greetings Orion Families,
September certainly did fly by quickly. Your children and their teachers have been very busy setting the stage for a rich year of learning. By now, building and classroom procedures are well-ingrained, and students are deep into the literacy, math, science and social studies content they will learn this year.
We value and encourage family involvement. Parent/guardian involvement is key to student success! We know that it is challenging in this day and age with our busy schedules, so we offer many ways that you can show your support and show your child that their education is important for you. We can always use volunteers for our many activities, and I promise you will leave with a smile if you do!

On a side note, Parent Teacher Conferences will be held October 24 - 25. Please go to the district website beginning October 8th to schedule your conference. We look forward to seeing you then.
Yours in Education,
Principal Cheathon
Notes from Nurse Wurm
Happy October!
Lots of “screening” going on this month in the nurse’s office. This means checking vision, hearing, height and weight. The ability to see and hear well is critical to a successful learning experience. If your student has concerns in any of these areas I will be contacting you.
Cold and flu season are here! Practicing the following healthy habits will help us all avoid getting sick;
- wash hands frequently with soap and warm water
- avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
- stay home if ill, students should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school
- cover your coughs and sneezes
- flu shots are the best way to avoid influenza, the JBER Immunization Clinic will be here at Orion on Wednesday October 24th, from 8:30-9:30 to give flu shots to students. Parents must be present, siblings and family members with an ID card are also eligible for the shot. Parents are responsible for their students until the first bell.
Feel free to stop by, call or email with any questions or concerns.
