Bobcat Bulletin
October 8, 2016
Dear FSS Staff,
PJH conferences are this week. This means minimum days for 7th and 8th graders. Often the Junior High students come back and visit FSS teachers. We will not allow minors on campus during instructional time. All volunteers must be 18 and cleared through the volunteer code of conduct. Do not make any arrangements with parents to host junior high kids in your classroom, this is against our district policy. All employees need to make arrangements for junior high students.
Teachers on an evaluation cycle, please remember to set up an observation with me in the next four weeks. Send a calendar day/time to me. Time flies and I am only on campus Wednesday this week.
Enjoy!

Instructional Focus
Digital Learning
Wednesday is Speak Up Survey day. Each year, Project Tomorrow seeks input on digital literacy progress from parents, staff and students. Please plan for how you will have your students, parents and yourself take the survey. The survey data helps guide our digital learning plan in and out of school.

Next week is Common Sense Media focus week. This is a good reminder of how we need to infuse internet safety into our day. Last weeks "creepy clowns" social media prank, makes this extremely important. Most students in 4-6th grade now have phones or technology with an Instagram and/on snapchat account. Most Parents I met with last week never though of checking their child's phone, don't know how to check and do not know their child phones password. We confiscated many phones last week and everyone was shocked by the content kids were participating in. We must teach kids about internet/social media safety and Common Sense Media has lessons for each grade. Have every child take the internet safety pledge this week. Ask the T3 team for assistance.
Climate and Culture
- We had a wonderful turn out for our first PTA dinner fundraiser at Scoreboard Pizza. Thank you K and first grade teachers for hosting and other staff for attending. Kids and families loved seeing their teachers. These seem to be an easy fundraiser, minimal commitment and ties directly in with our relationship big rock. Our next dinner fundraiser will be Nov. 17 at Panda Express, the day after our Lighthouse Certification. We can celebrate.
- Re-focus on 4 S lines
- Sunshine Notes- be mindful to fill some buckets this week.
