All In! Let's jump!
Dear Cougar Family,
Y'all. We start school tomorrow, and I am so excited I can hardly stand it! Having my son start school has caused me to reflect on the importance of public education even more than usual. What a great responsibility we have as public educators! What a privilege it is to be entrusted with other people's children! We get to be the people who show them possibilities they never even imagined!
We have a tremendous opportunity before us to impact the lives of students (and one another) as we embark into the 2019-20 school year! I can't wait to see what awaits for all of our learners as we launch the year by being ALL In for ALL COUGARS, ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!
Please take a moment to watch this video from Gerry Brooks, the hilarious YouTubing principal. (Shout out to Stephanie Garcia who shared this on social media this week!)
His message reminds me that when we think of ALL COUGARS, we are serving students with a myriad of needs. Considering "What if this was my child?" is a great way to refocus on what is important. He also reminded me that there are no coincidences. Each Cougar is here for a reason, and each student placed in your class needs you. Serve them well!
Welcome back! And, as always, COUGAR PRIDE!

First Day of School Logistics
Please be reminded that all students are to be directed to the cafeteria, 1st floor commons/halls, 2nd floor seating area before school each day. We will ring the first bell at 8:15 AM releasing the students into the entire building. First period will begin at 8:25 AM. (A warning bell will sound at 8:24 AM.)
On the first day of school…before 8:25 AM:
- ALL students must secure an updated schedule (lavender paper) from the auxiliary gym.
- Students who have not paid for an ID are to report to the attendance window. Some new students will have a CSHS lanyard with a paper ID tag until their permanent ID comes in.
- Students who need to complete the registration process should report to the counselor’s office.
- Staff IDs were placed in your box on Friday. Make sure you are wearing yours.
Please handle tardies with discretion the first two days of school. In other words, allow for students to be late as they find their way around the building. As with dress code violations and ID violations, we will begin official enforcement of tardies on Wednesday.
Please remind students that in addition to the main stairwell in the commons (stairwells 3 and 4) stairwells 1 and 2 are open for use.. Stairwell 1 is located on the west end of the building at the end of the SPED (1st floor), FL (2nd floor), and SS (3rd floor) departments. Stairwell 2 is located on the east end of the building at the end of the office (1st floor), ELA (2nd floor), and math (3rd floor.)
You may dress professionally or wear a staff polo with slacks for the first day of school.
Counselor's Corner: Schedule Changes
Please only send kids to the counselor’s office if they have a hole in their schedule, are in a class they have already passed, or are double-scheduled for a specific subject or class period.
Do not tell students you have room in other class periods. The master schedule is far more complex than just your rosters and classes--just because they could move among your classes, it does not mean there is room elsewhere.
Welcome to our new staff!
Important Reminders About Visitors & Deliveries
1. If you are expecting a guest speaker, please remember that they MUST first have been cleared by HR and filled out the appropriate application form to be a guest speaker for your class. This entire process takes around two weeks, so please plan accordingly and have your guest fill out the application in plenty of time.
2. Former students are not allowed to visit with teachers unless there have been prior arrangements made with that teacher. If you have a student you are meeting with, please let Rachel Tydlacka know via email in advance or the student will not be allowed to go to your classroom.
3. If you have ordered food from a delivery service, please do not send a student down to get it. We have had many students state the food is for their "teacher" when in fact it was for them, but we can not always double check this. In all fairness to the other students, please pick up your own lunches from delivery services to avoid confusion.
4. If you are expecting a visitor to arrive after 4:00 pm, please be aware that the front doors are locked at that time to prevent students from re-entering the building. Please come to the front office to greet your guests and escort them to your meeting place.

Are you a club sponsor? Please let Mrs. Parkerson know when you will be having your first meeting for interested students so it can be announced and posted on the CSHS FB page. Please plan initial meetings within the first three weeks of school, so we can get students involved early.
