King Cotton
King cotton was a slogan during the American Civil War.The slogan was succesful in mobilizing support.By summer 1861 the union blockade shut down over 95% of exports.Consequently the stratagy proved a failure for the confederacy-king cotton did not help the new union.Not all farmers flourished however. Many farming families who came to texas after the Civil War faced disappointment and failure.
