College Planning Information
May 1 - National Decision Day Quickly Approaching!
Seniors: May 1 is the deadline to make your college decision and finalize it by sending in your enrollment deposit. This will lock in your spot at the college or university you’ve chosen. If you do change your mind before May 1, you can opt to attend another college, if they have availability. You will not receive your deposit back from your first choice, and your second choice college will require a deposit as well.
If you’re on the waitlist at a college, you do have to submit an enrollment deposit by May 1 to a school that has admitted you. However, you can switch to the school that waitlisted you if you make it off of the wait list over the summer. Again, no refunds will be given on the deposit to the school that originally admitted you, and you will owe the waitlist college a deposit too.
Colleges will not grant any extensions to the May 1 deadline while you wait to hear back from any schools you've been wait-listed at, so your best option is to submit your enrollment deposit and switch if you are admitted.
Q4 Schedule Change Reminder
All seniors making a change to their senior schedule (especially if the change involves dropping a core academic class) are encouraged to contact any colleges they have applied to or are considering.
Making a schedule change could impact chances of admission or admission status.

Mental Health Minute: Anxiety
We are entering the 'academic burnout' phase of the year. Students and educators may be feeling mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted. Spring break can provide a needed respite, but it may be important to recognize increasing signs of stress in your student. According to the 2022 MN Student Data Survey, 50% of 8th graders and 59% of 11th graders reported feeling bothered by not being able to stop or control worrying over the previous 2 weeks. We will focus on anxiety in this month's Mental Health Minute. You will learn to recognize anxiety, understand the contributing factors, and provide some guidance on how to help.
