Summer Half Term

Happy Half Term everyone!

It's been a really busy start to the Summer Term with lots of fundraising and brilliant support from you all. As ever, we are hugely grateful for the constant giving that you all do. We realise it feels like we're always after your hard-earned but your donations make such a huge difference to our children's school experience. More about that later...

Silver Smarties

Before Easter, all the children came home with a tube of Smarties to enjoy. The deal was that they return the tube, filled with coins, after the Easter holidays. Massive thanks to the parents who supported this fundraiser - together you raised a brilliant £400 in small change (which was really fun to count and sort!). Amazing effort.

Fab Friday

The children have been extremely supportive of this Summer-time fundraiser - come rain, or shine, they are there in their hoards when school tips out every Friday. Once again, thank you very much to the parents, grandparents and carers who supply the funds. With your support, we have already raised over £400 and we will continue to run this throughout the Summer term.

Oh, what a night!

I think those who attended the first ever Casino Night at Keston will agree, it was a blinder of an evening. We drank, we ate, we gambled, we posed like loons in front of Maribel & David Kneller's brilliant Magic Mirror (, we danced to the best band ever (, what's not to love? We didn't raise a whole lot of money this time but hopefully, if more people come next time, the fun will turn to funds.... We would really appreciate your feedback so we can assess whether there should be a next time. Thank you.

How can you help raise money for the school without it costing a penny?

Keston Primary earned approx. £38 this quarter and it was virtually effortless. Each time you head to a screen to shop online, type in address, look up your store e.g. Amazon and proceed with your shopping. Your purchases will earn Keston Primary a percentage of your purchase. It costs you nothing! It earns Keston free money! All you need to do the first time is register your cause as Keston CE Primary School BR2 6BN (posters around the school) and remember to shop via for everything. Truly easy.

AGM & what we've spent your hard-earned on....

So, we held the PTA's Annual General Meeting on Friday 20th May during a coffee morning. Thank you to all who attended and listened intently! We just about had enough people, though a few more would have been great. The purpose of the AGM is to report on funds raised and monies spent over the school year...

So far this year, your support and donations have allowed the PTA to provide the school with funds to create bespoke reading corners in each classroom, new kitchen equipment for cookery classes, a set of educational tablets for small groups to use, a new Smartboard, beanbags and outdoor furniture (see pics). As well as this, the PTA has funded the new blinds in the Hall (a huge improvement, we know you'll agree), Maths Week and Health Week (experiences our children would not get if we didn't fundraise, which really bring learning to life for them). So some pretty great stuff achieved this year. HUGE thanks.

Your feedback & joining the team

We are always busy trying to think of interesting, fun ways of raising funds to enhance the school lives of our kids. We are a small team and would really welcome more parents and carers on to the PTA, so please let us know if you are interested in coming along to meetings.

We are also really keen to hear your feedback. We are going to try and do more questionnaires, like the Casino Night one above, to help us gauge how the events and fundraisers we put on are working (or not) for you all. Please feel free to drop us a line anytime with your thoughts to

Next term...

The half term leading up to the Summer holidays is always a busy time, with Sports Day, the Summer Fair and the kid's Summer Party to look forward to. Fab Friday will continue to sell ice creams and lollies every Friday. Dates for the diary are:

Friday 10th June - Queen's Birthday Cake Sale

Friday 24th June - Summer Fair (please let us know if you can help at this)

Friday 1st July - Sports Day

Friday 8th July - Kid's Summer Party

Wednesday 20th July - SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!

Final word regarding the Summer Fair

With the Summer Fair coming up on 24th June, we could really do with some volunteers to help on the BBQ, bar, stalls and to man the inflatables. We don't want to have to beg. If you are willing to help, even for half an hour on the day, please email us at We promise not to take advantage of your kindness. Just tell us what you're willing to do or how much time you're happy to give, and we'll find a job to suit. We really appreciate all parental assistance. Thank you very much. Have a great Half Term. xx
