A Note from Dr. Zambiasi

Dear LHS Parents and Families,

I can't believe we have arrived at Spring Break for the 22-23 school year! This year has flown by as we've celebrated numerous accomplishments. I recently had the chance to watch our LHS Orchestra compete at UIL in Allen, our swim team compete at UIL State, our wrestling team compete at UIL State, and our UIL One Act Play rehearse before heading to district. I’ve also been able to watch both our softball and baseball teams get their seasons started. Adding to that, Robotics is gearing up for State and our Debate team recently qualified 11 students for Nationals! All of these amazing milestones occurred in just the past few weeks! Coming up, our soccer teams will compete in the playoffs as well. We are really looking forward to the elite things our students will continue to accomplish as we return after Spring Break and head towards graduation.

With that being said, when we return from spring break, I wanted to get you a few updates regarding staff moves: both Mrs. McAbee (Lead Secretary) and Mrs. Hobbs (Registrar) will be leaving LHS to start new and exciting opportunities. We appreciate the expertise, professionalism, and meaningful work they have exemplified to support our school! Mrs. McAbee will be taking a position at a middle school in the area which will allow her to spend more time with her precious grandchildren and Mrs. Hobbs will be taking a job in the corporate/private sector. To fill these positions, we were able to immediately promote from within, and I am excited to introduce you to 2 familiar faces… Mrs. Maria Arnold, who is currently on our staff as our data entry clerk, will be the Lead Secretary moving forward. As you may know, she already has experience in this role, and has enabled us to not miss a beat in the front office. Next, Marisa Davis (our wonderful receptionist), is being promoted to the position of Registrar. Our campus registrar is instrumental regarding grades, transcripts, and coding behind the scenes and we have no doubt that Marisa will continue to impress in this new position. Please join us in congratulating both of them on their promotions! To fill their previous roles, we have been interviewing candidates, and I hope to be introducing you to the new receptionist and data entry clerk in the near future.

Lastly, Jackie Palovik is the Leopard Spotlight winner for 3.3.23. She does a wonderful job as the LHS Cafeteria Manager and ensures our staff/students have nutritious options to choose from at lunch. She works hard to provide a safe environment and understands the logistical procedures to feed over 1,000 Leopards every day. We appreciate all she does for LHS. Please join us in congratulating her!

I hope that you and your family have a wonderful 2023 LISD Spring Break! Please find time to relax and enjoy the time off with family and friends.

Attendance Task Force Weekly Report

Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).

Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
