Lady Trojans Basketball

The Lady Trojans will compete in two tournaments during the break. The 2018 Huntsville Hospital Sports Center and TOC Sports Ladies Classic is December 20-22 at James Clemens High School. The USMC BallN Prep Holiday Invitational is December 27-29 at Thompson High School and Thompson Middle School in Alabaster, Alabama. The brackets are attached below. Let's go, Lady Trojans!!

  • Sock Sale to Benefit National Pediatric Cancer Foundation: HOSA is selling socks for $5. One dollar from each sale will be donated to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. See Mrs. Thomson or a HOSA member to purchase.
  • Soccer Fundraiser: The soccer team is selling clear bags that are size and style approved for Huntsville City Schools' sporting events. The clear tote bags are 12"x6"x12" and have the HG logo on them. They are $15 each and can be purchased through MySchoolFees. Students can also purchase them by seeing Coach Lilavois, Coach Balash, or Coach Williams.
  • Senior Ads: It's time to submit your senior ads for the yearbook! The deadline for submissions is February 14, 2019. Please click on the link below for details.

Athletics During Winter Break

Current Announcements

Dance Clinic: The HGHS Trojanettes will host a Dance Clinic for ages 4-5th grade on January 4th from 4-6 p.m. The cost is $20. Email escroggins@mcssk12.org to register. Clinic participants will dance with the Trojanettes at the varsity boys' basketball game on January 5th.

College & Career

Attention, Senior Parents: If your student will be using a GI Bill or the Alabama GI Dependent Scholarship, please let Mrs. Jagielski know. If you have any questions please email her at jjagielski@madison.k12.al.us.


College Visits for Juniors & Seniors: Two college visits a year are excused but will count against you when it comes to your exams, so use your breaks wisely. Also, you must submit a prior permission absence request form before going on a visit.


Parent Meetings with College & Career Counselor: Parents of juniors and seniors are invited to sign up to meet with Mrs. Jagielski, College & Career Counselor. Dates and times have been added for December.

College Fee Waivers: Seniors who receive free or reduced lunch can receive a waiver for college applications. Most colleges will honor them. If you need one, see Mrs. Jagielski in the Guidance Office.

SAFE-2-TELL Text Tip Line: Students can report bullying, threats, and dangerous activities anonymously at 256-536-8355. If you see or hear something, say something!

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form in to Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.


Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.


Parenting Assistance Line:
PAL is a service where anyone can call a toll free number 1-866-962-3030 and receive useful, practical information and assistance with developmental and parenting questions and concerns. Available 8:00am – 8:00pm (central time) Monday – Friday.


Recycle:
Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.


Reward Cards:
Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your reward cards when you visit Publix and Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you have them swipe your card, HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a reward card, just stop by the main office to pick one up.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.


Loyalty Reward Tags:
(Hazel Green Pharmacy Loyalty Key Tag Program) Parents/Students/Employees, please remember to use your loyalty key tag when you visit Hazel Green Pharmacy. Every time you purchase a Prescription/Gift/OTC have them swipe your tag. HGHS will receive a portion of the sale. If you need a loyalty key tag. Just stop by the main office to pick one up.
