NEWS FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
An IMPORTANT message from Nurse Brittany in the Health Office
As we are approaching the holidays, I wanted to write a quick note regarding attendance and health policies. We are STILL following ALL of the COVID-19 guidelines that have been in place since last school year when we came back to in-person learning.
Symptoms of COVID-19 can be the SAME or very similar to common cold symptoms. That has been the case since the beginning of COVID-19. It is difficult to distinguish the difference between the two. Getting tested is the only way to know if "It's just a cold." Home tests are currently available at the drugstore, so a doctor's visit is not always a necessity.
KEEP YOUR STUDENT HOME AND TEST FOR COVID-19 BEFORE RETURNING, OR KEEP OUT 10 DAYS FROM SYMPTOM START DATE IF THEY EXPERIENCE ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Runny nose
- Sore Throat
- Congestion
- Cough
- Fever
- Lethargy/Excessive tiredness
- Persistent Headache
**A loss of taste and smell are usually late signs of COVID, and does not happen in every case.
If you aren't sure, it's better to test to BE sure.
If your student is out sick and you receive an email from the Health Office with an Illness Exclusion Letter. it means your student met criteria to be tested for COVID-19 and is excluded from school pending results OR the 10-day exclusion.
Please contact the Health Office at (480) 926-6301 x1324 or via email at
Brittany.Velotta@gilbertschools.net
I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
