Advocacy and Awards
The Florida School Counselor Association participated in the annual Day on the Hill in Tallahassee. Lobbying efforts continue as we work to keep the needs of school counselors in front of our legislators. Look for future communications about FSCA advocacy on the website once it is back up and new and improved. Also, contact your local constituents to share the importance of school counselors and the services we provide each day. Find you legislators here: https://www.flsenate.gov/senators/find. Thank you to everyone who makes the choice to be a member of this organization, showing your support of our profession across the state and nation. Put the convention in Orlando on your calendar now (November 2-4) and make every effort to be there to learn, connect and support our profession.
Teacher of the Year
Arianne Smith, School Counselor, was nominated by the staff at Ruth N. Upson as their Teacher of the Year. She participated in the Eddy awards ceremony held in honor of all of the DCPS educators who work diligently in support of students. We are so proud of you and the work you do, Arianne!
