Graduation Project Update

Due to revisions in the Graduation Project assignment, we will not be using the scheduled Graduation Project meeting times throughout the year. Instead, students will be assigned a Career Portfolio to complete through Naviance (Family Connection). Check out the information that will be sent home to parents next week. Click Here for the Parent Graduation Project Information

The School Counselors are rolling this out to Juniors this week as they explain the graduation project career exploration process. Students will need to complete various steps in creating a career portfolio that is focused toward helping guide them through career choices and in preparing them for the workplace. Students will no longer be presenting their project and we are not currently using advisors. Instead, Dr. Mays Coleman will be working with the 11th grade to assure that they complete this assignment.

A team will be investigating what this could look like for our current 9th and 10th graders. We will be looking at what other districts are doing and best practices in regards to Career Exploration. One thought is to embed the career exploration material into courses throughout a student's career here at PGHS. The other thought is to continue requiring a Graduation Project that would focus on careers. If you would like to serve on the team that will investigate Best Practices in Career Exploration for students (Embed or Grad Project), please let Dr. Ziegler know.
