Available for adoption at Austin Pets Alive!
3 Year Old Chihuahua Mix!
Roza is a little canine flower who's just beginning to open up, learning to be a dog and learning that people are her friends.
This cutie's history is unknown, but her earliest experiences must have taught her to be sensitive and timid, even terrified. She spent her first two weeks in foster care hiding and afraid of doorways.
Now finding out what it is to be loved, she's rapidly warming up to her people and mostly definitely to other dogs. She's still not crazy about being held, but she's become a sneak cuddler. Given time to make up her own mind, she'll snuggle near her person on the couch or bed. And instead of hiding, she loves running and playing hide and seek.
Roza loves other dogs and is learning how to be one from her foster dogs, especially learning how to lay around and snooze. She can be an energetic and enthusiastic pup, loving her walks and walking well on her leash, and she bounces in celebration when her foster mom comes home.
It should be noted that Roza has tested positive for heartworms. It's a treatable condition, and the cost is included in the adoption fee. You can read about heartworm treatment here: http://www.austinpetsalive.org/heartworms/. She also has a history of seizures, although infrequent, and is on anticonvulsant medication.
Sweet Roza is housetrained and obedient. She will be a loyal and loving addition to a calm home with other easy-going dogs and people who will continue giving her positive reinforcement, letting her build her confidence at her own pace. Come see this adorable girl and she will steal your heart.
