Nominations Open for Brodniak Award
Nominations are now being accepted for the Walter A. Brodniak Award for Cultural Education. The Brodniak Award was created to foster growth of the cultural arts in the school district. Brodniak, Anacortes School District Superintendent from 1973 to 1977, was a staunch believer in the powerful contributions that arts make to our community. Each year, the award is given to a student, faculty member, administrator, school director, community member or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the cultural arts in the Anacortes School District in the past year.
Nominations are due to the Superintendent’s Office by 5 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018. Please use the online form to submit your nomination. A selection committee will review the nominations and make a recommendation to the School Board. The recipient will be recognized at the May 31, 2018 board meeting.
If you have questions, please contact the Superintendent’s Office at (360) 293-1211 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

We have a group of four girls in K-3rd grades hoping to form a new troop near Fidalgo Elementary. It takes 5 girls and 2 adult leaders to form a troop, so all we need is one more girl and two adults, and this troop will be ready to go! Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls in grades K-12, offering programs from coast-to-coast and across the globe. Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Through outdoor exploration, community service, civic engagement, and activities focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), girls develop a positive sense of self, say “yes” to new experiences and adventures, and create lasting friendships by joining a worldwide community of sisters. For additional information, please contact: Susie Barr-Wilson, GSWW Community Engagement Specialist, (360) 658-8083, ext. 4400 / firstname.lastname@example.org.
