Volunteers in the Classroom

We have many people in and out of our classroom every day. These people read with us, help us with our word study words, and other activities to help us be successful.

Mrs. Elliot is a community member who volunteers in our classroom on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. She LOVES to read with the students and looks forward to seeing the kids each day.

Miss Paige is a KSU student who is beginning the teaching courses. She is currently in an aiding class. Miss Paige comes to our classroom on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons!

Mrs. Jennings, Mrs. Erdwien, and Mrs. Duff are our wonderful Title 1 aides. They help change out books in our Purple Bags, help us with sight words and fluency, and phonic skills.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Conferences will be held on Oct. 21 and 22. Please make sure to send your request form back ASAP! I will be sending home a page outlining things we will be discussing at conferences.

Reading Update

This month we will be studying the mystery genre. We will be working in groups to choose a book to read as a group and then complete a project.

Math Update

We took our 1st math test last week over place value! The students did a great job. We started working with addition and subtraction. We will be working with 3 digit numbers. Ask your student about ALL the ways they can solve a problem and HOW they got their answer!

Science/Social Studies

We have an ant farm! It is so fun to check on the farm throughout the day. It really is amazing what those small insects can do!

We will be wrapping up our Social Studies unit on communities and starting the Science unit about rocks in October!

Students have been very busy designing noun towns/communities using nouns to describe a type of community (urban, suburban, and rural).

New Water Fountain!!!!!

I'm sure your student has told you....BUT our hallway got a new water fountain! This is no ordinary water fountain, it has a spout to fill up water bottles! We are SO very excited and we would really like to thank Mrs. Clark for all her hard work to get us this.
