Erpenbeck Updates
July 28, 2017
From the Principal:
I hope that this summer has provided time for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation for your family. It has been a very exciting summer for me! For those of you who do not know me or are new to Erpenbeck this year; I just wanted to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Pat Berry and i have been fortunate to be part of the EES community for the past ten years serving as the assistant principal. It truly is an honor to be selected to serve as the interim principal for this upcoming school year and follow in the footsteps of Mrs. Becky Brown and Mrs. Jenny Watson, our previous two principals of Erpenbeck. The many connections and relationships that I have been able to form with our students, staff, and our parents over these years has been so rewarding for me! I am married and have three children. My wife Valerie is a teacher at Yealey Elementary school. Having children of my own and I totally understand that parent perspective of pride, passion, and love of your child(ren). My oldest son Brett is 25 years old and he does data analysis work for an insurance company in Ohio. My daughter Brooke is now 21 years old and is heading into her senior year at NKU, where is studying to become a high school English teacher. My youngest child Blake just turned 13 years old. Blake attended EES for all six of his years in elementary school and I know how deeply that our staff, programs/student opportunities, and our overall EES philosophy of teaching to the whole child has had such a positive impact on him.
As I stated above, I will be the interim principal for this school year only. By taking on this role; our SBDM council will be able to post the position for principal early next spring to allow for a truly comprehensive and exhaustive search to find the next principal to lead EES in the 2018-19 school year. Mrs. Watson will be missed dearly! It is amazing how in her three years as principal at EES she has had such a big impact on all of us each and every school day. My objective for this year is to implement the collective vision that our staff created for this year and continue to operate our school as we have planned. Our theme for this year is:
Erpenbeck Elementary- Where we engage, empower, and inspire our future of tomorrow.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you very soon! The halls of EES are ready and waiting for the energy, excitement, and enthusiasm of our students to fill them! Just a few updates about upcoming events;
* On Saturday, August 5th at 10:00 am we will have our 2017-18 class lists posted on the front lobby doors.
* Our volunteer training can now be completed on-line for your convenience. We will not be having any scheduled volunteer trainings this year. If you go to the EES web page and click on the parent resource tab the volunteer training link will appear at the bottom of that tab.
* We will have our Back to School open house on Thursday, August 10th. From 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM will be for families with last names beginning with letters A - M. From 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM will be for families with last names beginning with letters N - Z. Once again we will not have a volunteer training at 6:00 PM - it can be completed on-line.
EES students - continue to read this summer and log your minutes for the summer reading challenge!
Sincerely,
Pat Berry
