Good Evening Families

We are in the home stretch for the 2019-2020 school year. Just this week, we received guidance that allows us to begin to prepare for our students and families to pick up items at the school. The staff and I are also working to coordinate the final details for our Grade 5 celebration. We will be sending further communication next week with more information!

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about any end of the year information.

  • We ask that you have the first and last name and room number of your child on a paper displayed on the dashboard.
  • Please begin to form a line starting in the large parking lot similar to AM drop off.
  • Cars will then be sent to the horseshoe for pick up at the main door
  • If you have items to drop off (library books or classroom items), there will be bins at the front door.
  • Instrument returns will be separate.
Our goal is to provide a smooth traffic flow and not clog up Dedham Street. If the pick up time is not convenient, please contact me and we can make other arrangements. Also if you have more than one child, please let us know the day/time you will be picking up so we can have items ready.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

JFK Virtual Olympics

Congratulations to all that participated in the first ever "Virtual Kennedy Olympics Field Day" Mr. Sasin received many pictures and videos back of students participating in the events. Great job! It was so nice to see so many families moving and having fun together! You can still forward him pictures or post on social media if you'd like using the hashtags #cantonwellness #NationalFieldDay. Mr. Sasin created a powerpoint presentation with some of the submissions. You can see how some of the Kennedy community participated at this link:

GRADE 5 Mile Challenge

GRADE 5 Mile Challenge- Every year at the Kennedy School Grade 5 participates in the “Grade 5 Mile”. This is an opportunity for all 5th graders to experience running a mile before going into Middle School. The focus is always on student participation and individual challenge. This year, we will be doing a “Virtual 5th Grade Mile”. It would be great for all of the 5th graders to participate, whether you are a speedy runner or a slower walk/jog participant. To participate, use a GPS tracker to keep your time and distance. There are many free apps out there such as Nike app, Health App on Apple products, Adidas app, runkeeper, Fitbit, etc. If you don’t have access, then you could do 4 laps at the High School track and keep your time with a stopwatch. Once you finish, take a picture of yourself and your mile time/ tracker and post it to the below link:

5thGradeMileParticipationForm

Mr. Sasin will be creating a powerpoint so you can see all those that participated and finished their mile. Remember it’s about participation, so don’t get overly worried about your time! I encourage you to have other family members participate with you. Jogging is a great lifelong activity that can help keep you fit for many years to come. You may want to do some jumping jacks and a quick stretch before to get loose. Be sure to be safe and have fun! Good luck.

Girls on the Run

Unfortunately the Girls on the Run (GOTR) 2020 in person season was cancelled. However, it was optional to participate in the program virtually. This Saturday, June 6th. was the big celebration 5k race day! JFK GOTR coaches represented in their gear as they ran the 5k in their hometowns to keep the spirit alive. We are so proud of all the students who also participated virtually in Canton. We can't wait for next season. Check out Mrs. Omar, Miss Pallotto, Miss Donaghey, Mrs. Huffstutler and Mrs. Tourgee.
