A MESSAGE FROM DR. CHURCH
Dear Parents,
This week we have been fortunate to have the IDEA project here, sharing the important message that we all have similarities and differences, and having a disability is one of the ways we can be different. Students went through several activities to simulate how any one of their peers may communicate, see, process, use their hands, or read differently from them. Students and teachers found this to be a valuable experience.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of our PTO, or the many volunteers who helped facilitate the stations students rotated through. I’d like to thank everyone who was involved this week.
I would also like to thank everyone for their generosity during the walk-a-thon fundraiser. The student who raised the most money chose to have my hair dyed half red and half black. A true Raven! Next week I plan to have one of our own parents, who is a hair stylist, work her magic. Looking forward to it, and just in time for Halloween!
Craig

A NOTE FROM NURSE MARY
Vision screening updates: Vision screening was completed for students in K-3rd and 5th grade last week. If your student passed the vision screening, then no documentation was sent home. If they were referred to see an eye care professional the paperwork was sent home this week, which gives further instructions. Please call the nurse if you have any questions on your student’s results. For any absent students we will have a make up day in the next few months.
Reminder on any student allergies: If your student has any food allergies or anaphylaxis to any foods and they plan to eat a school lunch please review the menu with your student to make sure there are no allergens. The menu can be found on the district website or by the link below:
https://sno.nutrislice.com/menu/totem-falls/lunch/2022-10-20
To find out which items may have your student’s specific allergen, click on the filters icon on the top right of the screen, select the allergen, and any menu items containing it will be crossed out.

FALL PANORAMA SURVEY
With the school year well underway, we are asking our 3rd through 12th grade students to again participate in the Panorama survey for social-emotional learning. For elementary, the questions center on their current knowledge, how they feel about the school environment, and whether they have access to staff and resources to feel safe and successful. For secondary, the questions center on the same areas and further explore whether students feel they have the skills, opportunity, or ability for personal and academic growth along with social awareness and positive relationships. The survey window will be open for two weeks from October 17-31. Survey results will be available approximately two weeks after the survey window closes, which places us around November 14. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's principal.
Our goal as a district and community is to ensure that each student feels safe, welcomed, and supported in our schools and while attending school activities. The information provided through this survey is one tool we can use to hear student voice and perspective. Other considerations will continue to include conversations with students, families, and staff and monitoring of academic progress and social-emotional awareness. It is ok to not feel ok, but please know that there is help and support so that it does not have to remain that way.
Click here for a link to more information about the Panorama survey.
