Back to School Night
What a wonderful start to the 2017-18 school year! Our first few weeks have set the tone for a positive and productive school year ahead. We look forward to a terrific year filled with new learning opportunities! We are excited to partner with families to make the school year a productive, meaningful, and positive learning experience for our students.
On Thursday, September 14th we held our first Back to School Night for grades K-2. Many PRES families were in attendance and the night was enjoyed by all! We look forward to welcoming parents and guardians in Grades 3-5 to our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 28th at 7:00-8:30 pm, to learn about the exciting curriculum from your child's teacher. Parent-teacher conferences will take place twice a year, in October and March. Your child’s teacher will share at Back to School Night the best way to communicate throughout the school year.
The start of Back-to-School Night will be a “fair-like” atmosphere where you will have an opportunity to meet with the specials and specialists who work with your children. Are you wondering what happens in art class? What music choices are available to students? What is a Learning Specialist? This will be the time to learn from all the staff who provide enriching learning experiences for your children throughout the school day.
PRES Students Leap Back to School!
C.A.R.E.s Character Education Program
C.A.R.E.s is the PRES school-wide positive behavioral support system that encourages students and staff to care for themselves, others, and the school wide community. C.A.R.E.s highlights four key components of positive behavior:
Cooperation, Accountability, Respect, and Effort
Through C.A.R.E.s, we encourage a nurturing school climate by promoting pro-social behavior, increasing learning time, and teaching positive social skills. PRES students are involved in weekly classroom meetings, spirit days, round of a “PAWS,” community rocks, and monthly assemblies.
When a PRES student is caught caring, he/she is awarded a "round of a paws," which is shared on the morning announcements. The PRES student caught caring chooses a uniquely painted rock to place out in the community, bringing a little art and beauty into the lives of others! Whenever you see a painted rock hidden in the community somewhere, it is a sign that a random act of kindness has been committed at PRES.
