From the Principal...
Families and Community,
We kicked off our CMAS testing this week with 3rd-6th graders! Students (of all ages) showed amazing determination and resiliency! Thank you for your efforts getting students to school on time and ready. Next week, students will finish testing with Math (3rd through 6th) and Science (for 5th grade only). Our younger learners have done such a great job cheering for our older students and making sure the hallways are nice and quiet, which is not always typical for our happily bursting with noise little building!
Our Fun Run is off to a great start! As of this morning, students have raised $3685 and we have 39% of students registered! Currently, Ms. Harriman's 1st graders are in the lead with $650, and have earned a pajama party. Whichever class is at the lead on Thursday at 4 pm gets to pie me! The first class to get everyone registered will earn a dance party. Visit getmovinfundhub.com and enter school ID: 6408884472250d to register! Let us know if you need help getting registered.
Have a great weekend!

Information about Universal Preschool
Colorado Universal Preschool Program (UPK)
Last April, Gov. Jared Polis signed a bill that works towards “every child in the year before they are eligible for kindergarten is eligible for half-day (15 hours), state-funded, voluntary preschool beginning in the 2023-24 school year. Three-year-olds with qualifying factors are eligible for part-time (10 hours) preschool programming. Families of children in the year before they are eligible for kindergarten with certain qualifying factors, are eligible for an additional 15 hours stacked on top of the half-day programming, bringing those children to full-day programming.”
Manitou Springs Elementary School and Ute Pass Elementary School will continue to offer our exceptional preschool programs for both three-year-olds and students that are in the year before they are eligible for kindergarten. Information for families
Families are now able to submit an application through the state-wide Universal Preschool System for the 2023-24 school year. Here is the link to the application: https://upk.colorado.gov/
Families will still need to complete our preschool enrollment process as well as the UPK application. Here is the information for MSSD: Student Enrollment
