Thankful for Community Members
Greenlee students enjoy visits from community members! When families, community groups, businesses, and schools band together to support learning, young people achieve more in school. Pictured below is Daniel Woodard who spoke to Mrs. Blevins's class about being a pilot for American Airlines. Brandon Roberts from the Mitchell News Journal is pictured below reading to Mrs. Snyder's kindergarten class. James Acuff guest starred on the morning announcements for a Veteran's Day interview. Thank you again to all the community members who volunteer to help make Greenlee great!
Flat Stanley visits the White House
Grayson Burleson's Flat Stanley made it all the way to Washington. He received an official White House letter of all the activities his Flat Stanley participated in during the visit.
After reading Flat Stanley, second graders made their "flat" selves by coloring and tracing their bodies. They brought in addresses of places to send themselves and also wrote letters saying they would appreciate a few pictures and list of activities their "flat" person" accomplished on the trip. The farthest geographical location a student sent a Flat Stanley was Alaska!
Learning Links Grant Funded
Marissa Westall received a Bright Ideas Grant Award from French Broad Electric. This will give Greenlee a new outdoor classroom for students and teachers!
Students Awarded for Good Attendance
Mrs. Silver and Mrs. Byrd's class was awarded a trip to Boonies for highest attendance for the month of October! We are thankful for Boonies in allowing the class with the best attendance to attend a monthly pizza party. Attendance is very important to student success, and we are delighted to see students working hard to attend school!
