All men are created equal, regrdless of race
- during the 1950's, African Americans were treated horrendously, they weren't given the same rights as whites
- The civil rights movement started when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man and was arrested
- A boycott of the buses ensued lead by baptist preacher Martin Luther King Jr.
- Soon other protests such as sit-ins ensued and the movement was in full swing
- One of the biggest events of the civil rights movement was the March on Washington where Martin Luther King Jr gave the famous "I have a dream: speech
- On July 2, 1964, the civil rights act was passed and outlawed all forms of discrimination against everyone
Protests against segregation
Protests were used by blacks and whites to try and get change to happen

Segregation was prominent in the south and the colored areas were in worse condition than the white counterpart

While the protesters were peaceful, the same can't be said about their opponents

Why I choose this topic
I choose this topic because freedom for all has always been a major influence in my life. Also, the recent movements that have been going around are misguided and the people that are a part of it are using ineffective "protests".
