A Message From Mr. Hofer

Dear Parents and Caregivers:

It is hard to believe that the end of the first quarter and Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. Please plan on attending Parent-Teacher Conferences; your child's teachers are eager to share all they have learned from working with students for the first two months of school. If you have questions regarding the time you signed up, please contact your child's teacher.

The district has redesigned its website to make it easier to use. There's also an app that can be downloaded to your phone. More details can be found HERE.

We can't wait to see you in a couple weeks. Thank you for your support of our building and your child's education.

Wishing you well,

Mr. Brian Hofer

Southwest Principal

Elementary School Students at High School Football Games

For the safety of elementary students and spectators, Geneseo elementary students are to remain within the presence of parents/guardian during all football games. This includes trips to the restroom and concession stands. Running, tackling, and other horseplay is not allowed as it causes a safety hazard to others in attendance.

A Note From Mrs. Dietrich

Parents- As you are switching clothes from Summer to Fall/Winter, if your child has outgrown athletic pants, leggings or t-shirts, I would take a few donations for my closet supply in my office for students who need a clean shirt or pants through the day.

Please call my office, 309-945-0658 for any questions.

A SPOTLIGHT ON MENTAL HEALTH- INFORMATION FROM OUR SOCIAL WORKERS

With increased access to technology and students receiving phones at much younger ages, social media concerns have been on the rise. Developmentally, elementary age students do not fully understand the consequences of social media. It is very important for parents and guardians to research and monitor their children’s social media accounts. It is also helpful to have screen time parameters and guidelines at home. For example, no phones when eating meals with family and a place to charge phones in the evening where children cannot have access to them.

Here is a great article with some pointers regarding social media safety: https://kidshealth.org/en/parents/social-media-smarts.html
