STUDENT RECOGNITION
AHS Poem
Congratulations to our very own Kate Johnson whose poem “Elegy to my Childhood”, is being published and she also won the Topical Winner for the Just Poetry competition.
Great job Kate!! Please enjoy the poem below:
Elegy to my Childhood
oh childhood...
oh childhood, how fleeting and breef,
a time of innocence, of joy and belief.
where our laughter echoed and dreams took flight,
and the world is pure, full of wonder and delight.
oh how we played, in fields and streams
with family and friends, in wildest dreams.
the world was ours, and nothing could stop us.
in childhood, we knew only happiness and trust.
But childhood, like all things, must come to an end,
and as we move on, we must leave it behind.
The memories linger, like a sweet refrain
of laughter, love, and the sun shining bright.
But still, we mourn the loss of youth
because our childhood is a treasure, beyond all truth.
A time of pure joy, and endless possibility.
A time that we can never quite replicate in reality.
oh childhood, we will never forget you.
in our hearts, you will always be true.
a symbol of hope, and the beauty of life.
a time of happiness, without any strife.
