KVA Attendance Reporting

If your student is going to be absent please report the absence daily to the ADA clerk by one of the options below:

Online Absence Form: Absence Reporting Form

Phone: 281-234-2413

All excuse notes must be submitted within 5 days of absence to be excused.

If reporting technology issues please note it must be reported within 24hrs of the absence in order to be excused. The update was sent on December 11th’s Smart ReStart and December 13th’s KVA Update.

*NEW* KVA Attendance

Effective January 5, 2021, if your student is unable to attend a class period or full day of learning in KVA due to a Technology/Internet/Power Outage, a parent/guardian of the student should notify the Attendance Office of an absence with 24 hours of the absence. The absence will not be updated to excused unless written/phone call notification has been made by the parent/guardian to the Campus Attendance Office.

***For attendance corrections: Please contact the teacher as the first point of contact regarding a student's presence/absence/tardiness in class, especially if you have received an automated call from the District. Contact the teacher the same day if possible.

Notes from the Nurse

Happy New Year!

We hope that everyone had a restful holiday and enjoyed time with your family. We’re looking forward to a great, and (fingers crossed!) healthy semester. 😊

Top Questions Answered:

My child was exposed to COVID… Now what??

If your Tays student was exposed to COVID, please contact the nurse’s office for guidance and next steps. When and where the exposure happened can make a big difference in what you should do next. We are here, and we are more than happy to help. If you have a positive case in your home, you student will need to quarantine for a period of 14 days before returning to campus. Your student will be able to access their assignments through Canvas while they are home. If you are unsure about this process, please contact us for guidance.

My child has COVID… Now what??

If your Tays student has tested positive for COVID, please contact the nurse’s office to inform us so that we can begin our contact tracing and so that we may guide you on your student’s return to school process. Also, and this is very important, your student must fill out the COVID-19 self-reporting tile on the My Katy Cloud. Please make sure your student is logged in under their ID. When they fill out the tile, please make sure they are accurate in filling out the date that they were last on campus and when filling out the information about their close contacts. Close contacts are students that they sit with at lunch and anyone they may have been around at school without their mask on.

Free Student COVID Testing

Katy ISD is offering enrolled students free COVID-19 testing services at the District’s Agricultural Sciences Center located at 5801 Katy Hockley Cut-Off Road. BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! Please visit the KatyISD website to make your appointment.

Does You Student Need to Take Medication at School?

KISD Virtual Art Gallery

A highlight for staff at the ESC is student artwork displayed on the bulletin boards throughout all of the hallways. In past years parents have been invited to bring family members and tour the art on display, taking photos of their child’s artwork.

This year, rather than family groups entering the ESC, the Fine Arts Department has created a virtual art gallery. The virtual art gallery is a stellar example of how challenges such as COVID can lead to new and improved ways to celebrate student achievement and recognize success of our teachers.

If any KVA students would like a Homebase Booklet, we have some in the TJH front office. You will need to check in with the office on campus to receive one. Thank you.
