It's a Marvelous Monday at JSE!
On behalf of all JSE staff, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I will be visiting each classroom this week for a fun lesson on relating the unique qualities of a snowflake to the unique qualities in each and everyone of us! I am grateful for the opportunity to spread the joy to each of our JSE kids.
Students look forward to our classroom parties on Friday afternoon. Thank you to all who were able to donate supplies and volunteer. We appreciate it!
Thank you again for all your support with our holiday show. Mrs. Alonzo and our talented cast and elves outdid themselves!
Last week our students in grades 3-5 were involved in the Hour of Code event in their computer class. This was a huge hit with our students and many students have continued their new found interest at home through https://code.org/learn . Please see below more opportunities for your child to build their academic skills at home over break.
We look forward to more learning endeavors to
s-t-r-e-t-c-h everyone of our children's academic achievement goals in 2016!
One of the best gifts you can ever give a child "The Gift of Time" AND Resources for "I'm bored" over break...
Another is practicing math facts. This website will make flash cards for you: http://www.mathfactcafe.com/ and https://xtramath.org/ is an awesome free resource. This year we participated in the Skoolbo World Cup to aid the US in placing 4th in the world competition. Check out Skoolbo with your child to see what this learning adventure is all about.
Keep your child engaged with one of our educational subscriptions that provide home access, Reading Eggs and Sumdog are just two that your children have become familiar with. We have a friendly grade level competition that motivates our students to continue to practice at home. Mrs. Ross's class currently leads the way in Reading Eggs.
Start with a reading or math practice goal each day and increase it as your child achieves it, this will build your child's stamina for working hard!
We are a Safe School
