Being an officer/detective
Being and officer/detective comes with many different responsibilities such as:
- Enforcing Laws
- Responding to emergencies
- Patrolling assigned areas
- Preparing cases and testifying
Where I want to be
I want to move up to the position of detective. Most people start of as officers then are promoted or work their way up to detective.
Education
I've decided to study criminal justice at Texas Woman's University. To become an officer I must wait until I'm 21 and then attend go through the police academy.
The difference between an officer and detective is and officer protects lives and property, while a detective gathers facts and collects evidence of possible crimes.
Work Conditions and Characteristics
The job can be stressful and tiring, work can be physically demanding so it takes a specific type of person to do the job. The type of person who would succeed would need to have communication skill, empathy, good judgement, leadership skills, and perceptive.
