PONY NEWS JANUARY 30th
HELLO PONIES- A LITTLE TO SHARE ABOUT MS. MANUEL
Hello everyone. I'm Bre Manuel and I grew up in the rural community of Farmersville, Texas. I'm a good ol country girl! I went back and forth trying to decide if I should share this next bit about myself but I came to the conclusion that I shouldn't be ashamed of where I come from. Growing up, my parents didn't have the healthiest relationship. I never went without food, clothing, or love but I did grow up around abuse and alcoholism. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in third grade right before my parents divorced. I believe everything happens for a reason and my past has molded me into the person I am today. I've also learned that the good Lord can and will get you through anything. I'm happy to say I'm the closest I've ever been with my parents and I wouldn't trade them or their love for the world.
I met my husband of 4 years, Aaron, while working at Texas Lions Camp for children with disabilities. I can't imagine life without my tall, skinny, handsome nerd. Our children have scales, are cold blooded, and slither. I attended Collin College for two years and finished up my degree in Special Education at Texas A&M-Commerce. Shortly after graduating, I received the amazing opportunity to become a teacher at Lewisville Elementary. These past 4 years have been wonderful and I am blessed to be welcomed every day by my beautiful Pony family. I have endless love in my heart for each and every one of you.
Thanks for being so good to me.
Fun Facts: God is good. You can usually find me at a rock concert. It's hazardous to your health to play me in Mario Kart. I have an old orange truck named Scotty. I will attempt to make you smile when you’re sad. I may ask you to check my nose for boogers. Optimism is life. Children are hilarious, board games are the best, and I want to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle when I grow up. That is all.

PLCs
FEBRUARY 2nd 90 Minute PLCs will focus on TELPAS.
During the Fall Semester, we spent most of our PLC time learning about guided small group instruction, observing each other, creating our intervention groups, and looking at our data. We had a combination of collaboration and professional development.
During the Spring Semester, beginning on February 9th, our PLC time will focus more on lesson planning emphasizing the four essential questions of a PLC:
What do we want students to learn? (essential standards)
How will we know if they have learned? (team-developed common assessments)
What will we do if they don’t learn? (systematic interventions)
What will we do if they already know it? (extended learning)
ELA Twitter Chat and Book Study
To sweeten the pot even further, you will get 2 Jeans Passes for participating in the chat. :)
(P.S. - A few of the coaches from other campuses were only giving their participating teachers 1 Jeans Pass... We just love you all that much!)
The book study meets in-person for the first session and then virtually for the next two sessions.
This book study comes highly recommended from other teachers on our campus!

A Note from Nurse Erika: INDOOR or OUTDOOR Recess?
LISD Policy: Wind chill 34 degrees or below NO outdoor recess. Wind chill is the “feels like” temperature. LISD goes by weather on the National Weather Service (weather.gov). LVES has chosen to follow a wind chill of 40 degrees or below for NO outdoor recess. The nurse and office staff update the recess notification daily that hangs on the office window across from the cafeteria to inform teachers of weather conditions. For your convenience, an email will now be sent out before lunch time to inform grade levels of indoor or outdoor recess in addition to the sign posting.
Wellness Clinic
Baylor Scott & White has partnered with LISD to provide a wellness clinic at our school March 9th from 6:30-9:00am!
If you have not used your preventative benefits you are in luck – a team of nurses and phlebotomist are coming to draw fasting labs here at school. So, if you are not a fan of going to the doctor or just haven’t had time, this is a great opportunity for you! BaylorHealth.com/WorkplaceWellness
