SHS Named to US News & World Report "Best High Schools"
Thank you to our teachers for bringing their intellect, diligence, and commitment to our school, to our parents for your ongoing and unwavering support, and especially, to our students for giving us your best each and every day. Well done SHS!
Student of the Month!
SHS DECA Goes to Atlanta!
Over Spring Break over 40 DECA students traveled to Atlanta, Georgia for the International Career Development Conference! Led by their advisor, Mrs. Meagher, students competed against thousands of other qualifiers from every state and about 10 other nations!
Students had the opportunity to visit the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, College Football Hall of Fame, and capped off the trip with a Braves game (and an appearance on the Jumbo-Tron)!
Spotswood Band Excels in Williamsburg
Our SHS Bands earned the following honors:
Jazz Band: Rated "Excellent" and placed 1st in Jazz Ensemble Class A
Symphonic Band: Rated "Superior" and placed 1st in Concert Band Class IIA
The Symphonic Band scored 95 out of a possible 100 points, the highest recorded score in SHS history. To say that we are proud is an understatement!
Be sure to set aside Thursday, May 12th @ 6:30, as the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band present separate programs, and will combine once again to encore their award-winning performance as the Symphonic Band. We'll also feature our Percussion Ensemble and the SHS Chorus. All this and more at the Annual Spring Concert and Art Show!

Parking Lot Safety Reminders
Please be aware that speed humps have been installed throughout our High School/Middle School campus to best ensure the safety of all pedestrians on our property. All speed humps are clearly painted with diagonal lines in fluorescent yellow paint. As they are designed to reduce the speed of vehicles on campus, please remain alert and DRIVE SLOW.
Recently, parents have been coming in through the back, parking in spaces in the "Senior Lot" or idling for extended periods of time and then dropping off. This creates crowding and a dangerous traffic flow when combined with our student drivers trying to park and get to class on time.

Monitoring Grades & Summer Extension
Last summer SHS was able to offer Summer Extension Program for students who were unable to meet course requirements due to attendance or academic concerns deriving from the pandemic. To avoid confusion amongst students and their families, we must be clear that there is no plan to offer this program again, barring another major pandemic disruption/school closure and a state mandate. Students' final grades and attendance records will be used to determine the earning of course credit and their ability to graduate on time. Please have this important discussion with your child, and if you have any questions, please call the school counseling or main office. We appreciate your support and ongoing partnership.
