STAMPEDE SCOOP
Friday-August 19th, 2022
1st Day Arrival/Dismissal Reminders
Parents!!!
Just a few last minute reminders about Day 1 this coming Monday, 8/22. On this day, expect heavy traffic before and after school so if you plan on walking your child to class or walking to pick up your child it is recommended that you park along Rodeo Dr or in the Neighborhood. On day 1 all staff will be wearing this year's Kallison Spirit Shirts in blue for easy identification. On day 2 all staff will be wearing the red spirit shirt.
Drop off time is between 7:00 am and 7:40 am. Only those with passes will be allowed in the building. All others must check in with our Raptor System or drop your child off within those time frames. Staff will be on hand to escort students to their classrooms. 7:45 is the Tardy Bell.
Two days ago the district changed the dismissal time to 3pm. Students will not be released until this time. Year after year our dismissal process is very efficient. Once again, the first few days will take much longer as we want to ensure your child and every one of our 1200 students is appropriately at their dismissal location prior to their release. Please expect up to 30 - 45 minutes the first day of school. By the second week of dismissal, we will be at 15 minutes or less.
To assist with the dismissal process please be sure and remain in your vehicles when using either loop to pick up your child and use the car tags. Along with the morning passes these are an added element of security and contribute to the efficiency of dismissal. Also, please do not wait under the awning on either side of the school as these areas are reserved for students.
As a reminder, Kinder, 1st and older siblings will be dismissed at the front loop and 2nd through 5th will be at the side loop along with buses.
And finally, if you plan on walking your child to class daily or eating breakfast with them in the cafeteria please fill out a background check.
TEA HAS ONCE AGAIN IDENTIFIED KALLISON AN "A" CAMPUS FOR IT'S ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE!!!
Kallison has never achieved anything below an A since opening in 2017.
CONGRATULATIONS STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND EVERYONE WITHIN THE KALLISON COMMUNITY!!!
Kallison Updated Security Measures
Kallison Elementary is the largest elementary in the district for many reasons. Without a doubt the main reason is the quality of our amazing teachers. Regarding instruction, your children have and will continue to receive the very best. We also want to ensure your child's safety also takes priority. This will result in some changes in policy with regards to campus access.
We pride ourselves on being a Family: Staff and Community as One. We would like to continue this tradition, while at the same time providing the safest environment for our kids, so we have developed policies to ensure just that. The following systems have been put in place to provide both increased security as well as a continuance of our family friendly culture:
1.) 1st Week Fast Pass (1st Week Only - 7am-7:45):
The first week of school will be very busy. Parents should not be denied the privilege (if they so choose) of being able to walk their child to class on this memorable occasion, especially with our Kinder and 1st Grade Students. For those unable to walk their child to class on the first day of school we will have staff up front to escort as well as on duty throughout the hallways.
How Do I Get a 1st Week Fast Pass?
Parents must come to the front office in order to be scanned in and provided a pass. These passes must be shown upon entrance. ANY PARENT WITHOUT A 1ST WEEK FAST PASS WILL HAVE TO BE CHECKED USING OUR RAPTOR SYSTEM IN OUR SECURITY LOBBY.
*We will be issuing 1st Week Fast Passes in the front office Monday, Aug. 15th through Friday, Aug. 19th.
We will also be issuing 1st Week Fast Passes at our Meet the Teacher Night in the Cafeteria starting at 3pm. It would be wise to take care of this prior to this event in order to avoid long lines.
***1st WEEK FAST PASSES CAN ONLY BE USED THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL***

CLASSROOM TEACHER RIGHT TO KNOW INFORMATION
Dear Parents,
As a parent of a student at Nathan Kallison Elementary School, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom teacher and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you ask for it.
Specifically, you have the right to ask the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:
Whether the State Board of Education (SBEC) has licensed or qualified the teacher for the grades and subjects he/she teaches.
Whether the State Board of Education (SBEC) has decided that the teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances.
The teacher’s college major, whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject or the degrees.
Whether any teacher’s aides or similar paraprofessional provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.
If you would like to receive any of this information, please call Billy Navin at 210-398-2350.
Respectfully,
Billy Navin

POSSIBLE TEACHER CHANGE NOTIFICATION
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
Staffing of the District’s schools is based on projected enrollment figures. The process of staffing begins in February preceding each upcoming school year and continues after the school year begins. As principal, I will be working daily with Central Office personnel on staffing allocations in order to finalize the 2021-22 classes for our students.
Due to changes in staffing allocations and state law mandating class sizes in grades K through 4, as well as course qualifying factors at the secondary level, it may be necessary to revise your child’s schedule during the first three weeks of the school year. We will try to avoid this if possible; however, we want to inform you that it might be necessary to consolidate classes and move teachers between classes, grade levels, or schools. We will notify parents whose children are affected as soon as possible.
If you have any questions at the time, please contact me at my office or my vice principal.
I appreciate your support of and interest in your child.
Sincerely,
Billy Navin
